Sirush Balasanyan is an active woman from the village of Vachiani in Akhalkalaki Municipality. She always baked delicious cakes and pastries and to help his family, she decided to increase the production and open her own pastry shop. To implement her initiative Sirush participated in the Women’s Economic Empowerment project supported by UN Women and purchased the necessary inventory for the pastry.
Sirush bakes very tasty cakes, “khachapuri”, “lobiani” and other sweets and bakery of different sizes, shapes and types. Also, she adds the fruits from her own garden to aromatize her products. That is why Sirush has many satisfied customers from different villages. In addition she makes delicious dried fruits and nuts with caramel and can sell them due to the demand.
Sirush wants to diversify service in the future. Since there are many holidays in Akhalkalaki, Sirush decided to add festive products to her confectionery: candles, hats, fireworks, etc. To implement this, she needs additional finances.
The project “Women’s Economic Empowerment through Social Mobilization and Capacity Building” is funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), implemented by Kakheti Regional Development Foundation (KRDF), Taso Foundation (TF), and CARE International in the Caucasus (CARE).
