Rita Daloghlaliani is involved in agricultural activities in the village of Vachiani in Akhalkalaki Municipality. She always wanted to try to do more, so she got involved in the new initiative of the UN Women and Taso Foundation with great interest.
The project offered a variety of exciting opportunities for women living in the community. Rita herself bought a small tractor with the project’s help. “Land cultivation required a lot of energy and time. Caring for a family and at the same time doing agricultural activities was difficult for me. With the help of this project, my work became easier and I had more time left for her family.” – Says Rita.
Rita produces various types of natural products: beets, cabbage, potatoes, beans, cucumbers, and so on. Her products are natural and therefore very useful. “I sell my products in the center of Akhalkalaki and sometimes in the Tbilisi market”. Her customers are always satisfied with the service.
“Now, I am very happy that my hard work and energy were not in vain. Women from my communities were funded and started their own small businesses. The stereotypes of the society about women's independence and empowerment are also slowly changing."
In the future, Rita also plans to purchase certified potato seeds, which will allow her to increase harvest and develop farming activities.
