Naira Bolkvadze is an active woman entrepreneur from the village of Maradisi, Marneuli Municipality. Her family has a seedling farm and to expand the production, Naira participated in the Women’s Economic Empowerment project supported by UN Women. As part of the project, Naira purchased seedlings and started producing different types of vegetables in the greenhouse.
Naira produces broccoli, almost all types of lettuce, cauliflower, etc. Her husband helps her to sell the production in Tbilisi market and supermarkets as well. The business is developing quite successfully. With the first profit Naira bought a small tractor. In addition, she employs several local women in the process of working in greenhouses. For improvident occasions, Naira also wants to purchase a refrigerator by participating in various grant projects.
It is important for Naira to have a quality cellophane for the greenhouses. A strong wind had already destroyed it once. That is why, in addition with expanding the production, Naira also needs to buy cellophane, which is quite expensive.
