Mariam Alkhanashvili is a mother of three children from the village of Tsinubani, Akhmeta municipality. She lives with her husband, children and mother-in-law and takes care of the well-being of her family. The main activity of a socially vulnerable family is viticulture. Mariam owns a vineyard on 0.02 hectares and produces grapes of “Rkatsitela” variety. Since the main source of income for the family is social assistance, Mariam decided to expand the production and help her family financially.
To implement her initiative Mariam participated in the Women’s Economic Empowerment project supported by UN Women and purchased the inventory for the vineyard. Since the varieties of “Green” and “Saferavi” grapes are rare in the village of Tsinubani, Mariam decided to develop these ones. Mariam’s grapes are grown in a healthy environment and have lots of vitamins.
As for the sale, Mariam packs the grapes and sells them in the local market and shops.
