Cooperative "Chrela 2017" owns milk processing factory in village Lasuriashi, Tsageri municipality. The whole village awaited for the factory: the new technologies can drastically change the lives of local farmers and give a scale and importance to their work.
Members of "Chrela 2017" formed a cooperative with the initiative of 3 priests of the village in 2015, when they found out about he EU and CARE's cooperative program. Now they are 14 and own 150 livestock.
There's a high demand on dairy products, which is difficult to satisfy. Up tp this time, the cooperative had family type of business and couldn't produce the needed amount of cheese. Despite the high quality of cheese, the farmers weren't able to supply restaurants due to absence of factory.
Program for cooperatives in Tsageri started to give support to the farmers like "Chrela 2017". Asa result, "Chrela" received milk processing line and the factory was built with cooperative's co-financing. The factory is aimed at 1,5 tones of milk processing and satisfies all the standards for food security.
With the factory, "Chrela 2017" gained new prospects. Along with cheese and sulguni production, the members plan to produce artisane cheese, to icnrease the profits and producing Nadughi-less costly side product. Cooperative receives attention from the potential clients. So, the variety of production will only increase their income. Besides, the cooperative is allowed to receive 30% of the milk from local population. This will be a relied for village inhabitants as well.
The cooperative has many plans. The main aim of "Chrela 2017" is to scale up its production and bring more benefits to the village. They need support for this, including increasing livestock. Production of artisane cheese and gaining food security certificate will increase quality and production. The cooperative members have enough knowledge and desire to develop. With the right support and resources, they'll be able to achieve the goal and bring profits to others.
