The cooperative “Elita” was established in 2011 in the village of Tskaltbila focusing on producing grocery and seed potatoes. The cooperative owns 10 hectares of land for cultivation. They also provide the technical service to local farmers, like land processing, access to potatoes seed, proper recommendation for farming. As there is no other enterprises producing potatoes seeds in near municipalities, cooperative "Elita" creating big social impact for local villagers who are producing potatoes not only for their family needs, but for commercial purposes as well. The cooperative members are very open minded. They are focusing on adopting new technology and testing new varieties of seed on small plots.
Cooperative “Elita” represents the ethnic minority (Armenian) community in South Georgia. Cooperative members have long term experience working together. The leader of the cooperative Mr. Mikirich is a well-known agronomist in the region supporting villagers to produce potatoes.
