Name : Guriis Tkhili

The cooperative "Guriis Tkhili" was formed in 2014 by 5 individuals and now its members has increased up to 97. The cooperative unites the locals of Lanchkhuti municipality, who own and gain their income from hazelnut plantations.

With support from the cooperative program, the cooperative received a grant and purchased hazelnut processing equipment, used for the primary processing of hazelnuts. So far, the factory owns one processing line, but after using its full capacities, the numbers of lines and employess will increase.

Hazelnut culture was largely damaged from asian bug, and the cooperative tries to help its members and locals to solve this problem, including taking part in rehabilitation process of tea plantations and conducting information campaigns on how to take care if hazelnut and get quality products.

"Guriis tkhili" is making contacts with donors and interested stakeholders from different countries. The main aim for the cooperative is to get support in hazelnut plantation rehabilitation process and add another processing line to the factory that will employ more people. The cooperative also produces different products, such as: mixture of nuts and honey, nut spices. 
It also plans to produce additional products such as packaged hazelnuts as a souvenir. Increased production will bring benefits to the cooperative members and their families.
